The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team is keen to return to the top spots and finish this double-header on a high note
Just three days after completing their last race, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team travels to Hungary following a bitter end to the Italian Grand Prix. Máximo Quiles and Marco Morelli, who battled for the podium right up to the final metres, finished outside the top 10, although these results do not detract from the great work both are putting in every weekend. Quiles arrives at Balaton Park as the clear leader of the category, although last Sunday saw his run of results come to an end: in seven races, it was the first time he finished off the podium. He now faces a new challenge at Balaton, on a circuit that has only hosted one Grand Prix previously, but where Quiles was one of the riders who best adapted to the characteristics of the Central European track. The Spaniard was the first Moto3 winner at Balaton Park and wants to take advantage of this to return to the front of the field and strengthen his lead. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider has 145 points, but his lead over second place has narrowed slightly to 52 points. The latest results have seen a shake-up among his rivals, and it is now Álvaro Carpe who occupies second place in the overall standings, followed by Adrián Fernández, who is third, 56 points behind Quiles.
Marco Morelli faces uncharted territory this weekend. The Argentine is one of the few riders on the grid who has not yet raced at the Balaton Park circuit, but he has already demonstrated in other events that this is no obstacle to continuing to make progress and performing consistently from the very first sessions. Morelli continues to gain experience in his first full season in the World Championship, and the Italian round was undoubtedly a great learning experience for the young rider. On this occasion, he will aim to return to the front of the field and fight for another podium finish in the category. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider sits sixth in the overall standings with 61 points.
Máximo Quiles: “Hungary is a circuit I really enjoyed last year and where I secured one of my first victories. Last weekend’s race was tough and we didn’t make the podium, but I’ve used these days to recharge my batteries and come back focused on doing our job. My goal remains the same: I’ll keep taking it session by session and I’ll be ready to fight for the podium again on Sunday.”
Marco Morelli: “Last weekend we couldn’t finish as we’d hoped, so I’m arriving in Hungary much more motivated. I’m looking forward to getting there to make up for the result in Italy. I don’t know this weekend’s circuit yet, but I don’t think that will be a problem. I have a lot of confidence in the team and in the work we’re doing.”
