Dani Holgado, third and closer to the front-runners

The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar riders will be battling for the top grid positions in Indonesia after qualifying straight into Q2

Dani Holgado and David Alonso have secured their places in tomorrow’s Q2 following a positive Friday in Indonesia. The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar riders finished the day in third and tenth place respectively in a session that was interrupted on two occasions. Whilst the Spaniard was two tenths off the fastest time, the Colombian trails by half a second. Izan Guevara was the fastest in the intermediate class, beating the rest of the riders by two tenths, whilst Alex Escrig was second, just a few thousandths faster than Holgado.

The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team has kicked off a new race weekend in Indonesia, one of the circuits that places the greatest physical demands on riders due to the climatic conditions. After a quick adaptation, Holgado and Alonso focused on fine-tuning the bike and trying to close the gap on the top positions in the standings. Whilst Holgado started the day in the top five, Alonso was fourteenth. In the afternoon, both riders faced an unusual session, after practice was interrupted on two occasions, causing significant delays to the schedule. Despite this situation, the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar riders remained focused and improved their times in the final minutes. Holgado’s progress was particularly noteworthy, as he lapped a second faster than in the morning. This improvement was not enough to top the timesheets, but it was enough to repeat his result and finish the day in third place, two tenths of a second off the fastest time. Meanwhile, David Alonso has been working with the team to find that extra bit to keep closing the gap. The Colombian also shaved off a few tenths and finished in tenth place. Tomorrow they will tackle Q2, determined to take another step forward to be as competitive as possible in a qualifying session where the slightest difference can prove decisive.

3rd Dani Holgado 1:32.570 (+0.233): “I’m happy with how the day went, but not 100% satisfied. I didn’t feel very comfortable in the first session, but the team did a great job and I improved that feeling. When you feel good on the bike, everything is easier and you can find a much better flow. There are things to improve; I think I need to take another step forward to fight for the podium. This afternoon, I’ll focus on refining a few details. We’re talking about improving two or three tenths; it’s not a huge amount, but we need them to be in the top three.”

10th David Alonso 1:32.902 (+0.565): “The day went well, and I adapted well to the heat. Today I tested a few things that I think could help me be more competitive. I was very focused on my riding and on myself; it was positive. If I can get it right, I’ll be able to take another step forward in qualifying and the race.”
