The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider fought for the victory in Brno, securing the team’s 100th podium finish in the category
Máximo Quiles has already earned eight podium finishes in the nine races held so far in the 2026 season. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider finished the Czech Grand Prix in third place after leading for more than half the race, achieving a historic result for the team, which reached the milestone of 100 Moto3 podiums this Sunday. Hakim Danish claimed his first Moto3 victory after a thrilling battle on the final lap, overtaking Brian Uriarte, who finished second. Marco Morelli fought his way back up 17 positions to finish in seventh place.
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team once again put in a strong performance at Brno. Máximo Quiles got off to a good start, moving into first place and leading the opening laps. The rider from Murcia tried to extend his lead over the rest of the group after setting a strong pace all weekend, but this time his rivals didn’t make it easy for him. Quiles briefly lost the lead but regained first place, though the final laps featured an intense battle among a group of up to six riders. After several close encounters among them, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider crossed the finish line in third place. With this result, Quiles has now racked up eight podium finishes this season and has extended his lead in the Moto3 overall standings to 65 points. Meanwhile, his teammate Marco Morelli faced a challenging race but once again demonstrated what he is capable of. The Argentine failed to advance past Q1 yesterday and started Sunday’s race from the sixth row of the grid. After a strong start, a minor mistake dropped him to 24th place, forcing him to overtake many of his rivals if he wanted to reach the points zone. Morelli set a fast pace and, far from settling for less, led the second group to finish the Czech Grand Prix in a well-deserved seventh place.
3rd Máximo Quiles (+0.629): “The last lap was crazy. I was trying to open up a gap during the race to avoid that battle, but it was a bit windy and I think our gear ratio wasn’t the best for this race. There were a lot of riders in the group who wanted to win; there were a lot of collisions among us, and I did the best I could. I wanted to attack, but I made contact with another rider and braked to avoid pushing him too far off the line. When I moved into second place on the final lap, I said to myself, ‘I’m going to try to get into a good position heading into the linked turns to try to take the win at the finish line,’ but they caught me off guard. I tried something crazy, it worked out, and I managed to make it onto the podium. I really enjoyed the race; I hope the fans did too.”
7th Marco Morelli (+10.724): “I got off to another good start and held my position well in the first corner, but in the third corner I tried a different line and went wide. From there, I had to approach the race differently. I felt stronger than the riders in front of me and started making up positions until I took the lead in the second group. I tried to push, but I couldn’t close the gap. Seventh place isn’t the best result, but considering where I was, it’s not bad. I need to improve my braking; I’m having trouble stopping the bike effectively, and if I can fix that, I’m sure I’ll be able to finish higher up.”
