David Alonso and Dani Holgado kick off the second half of the season at Silverstone eager to fight for the podium again
The summer break is over for the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team. The British Grand Prix awaits the arrival of the Moto2 World Championship riders, and after three weeks of rest, David Alonso and Dani Holgado are ready to tackle the upcoming races and continue accumulating points to move even closer to the top three in the Moto2 standings. The Colombian didn’t have the desired ending to the last race in Germany: he crashed while running in the top five after showing great improvement throughout the weekend. Alonso will have a great incentive this weekend, as it was at Silverstone where he achieved his first podium finish in the intermediate category last year. Furthermore, since his first participation in the British Grand Prix in 2023, when he was still competing in Moto3, Alonso has always finished on the podium: first in 2023, second in 2024, and third in 2025.
Teammate Dani Holgado has also reached the podium at the British round. He did so in 2023, while still competing in Moto3, and came close to achieving it again in 2024. The Spaniard continues with his work plan with the team and is fully focused on achieving another podium finish and fighting for victory this weekend after narrowly missing out on a win in Germany.
Manu González remains in the lead in Moto2 with 195.5 points; Izan Guevara is second with 144 points; while Senna Agius is third with 136. Right behind them are the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders, who have managed to close the gap in recent races. David Alonso is fourth with 116 points, and just one point behind, Holgado occupies fifth place.
David Alonso: “I’m going to try to say goodbye to the Moto2 category with great results before making the leap that every rider wants to make. I have eleven final races with the CFMOTO Aspar Team to give it my all, to enjoy them, and to bring out the best of myself. Now we start the second half of the season, and we’ll try to put everything we’ve learned so far into practice. We’ll have to make the most of every lap, because it’s a very long track and we won’t be able to do many, to give our best and always be close to our maximum potential.”
Dani Holgado: “I’m really looking forward to racing again and working with the team after these past few weeks, which have allowed us to continue refining details that will help us improve. The German race was very positive; it helped us gain confidence, but we need to continue giving 100%, as always, to achieve similar results again.”
