Carlos Cano, Moto3 Junior World Champion, will be a World Championship rider in 2027

The CFMOTO Aspar Team Junior rider will join Marco Morelli in Moto3 after being crowned champion in MotoJunior World Championship last Sunday

Moto3 Junior World Champion Carlos Cano will compete in the World Championship with the CFMOTO Aspar Team in 2027. Cano will make the leap to Moto3 following a memorable year in MotoJunior. The young Spanish rider, who turns 17 this coming December, has finished his only season in the Moto3 Junior World Championship as champion of the category after securing six podium finishes – five of them victories – with the CFMOTO Aspar Team Junior. Cano’s career in the World Championship feeder series culminates in a European Talent Cup title in 2024, last season’s runners-up spot and now the Moto3 Junior championship title with the team.

With Máximo Quiles moving up to Moto2, Jorge Martínez “Aspar”’s team needed to find a rider to fill the spot left by the newly crowned Moto3 world champion. In a season in which all three Aspar Team Junior riders have battled for the title – and in which they were the only ones to reach the final round of the calendar with a mathematical chance of winning the championship – the rider from Murcia has been chosen to make the step up.

Jorge Martínez “Aspar”: “With the signing of Carlos Cano, we’ve confirmed the final rider we needed for the next World Championship season. We’re delighted to have him on board for 2027 and to support him on his debut. This year we’ve seen him make great progress with the Aspar Team Junior and, despite it being his first year in the category, he’s shown he’s very talented. The title has been the crowning glory of a great season for him and the team. We’re delighted to continue supporting him on his journey and hope to help him in every way we can during this new chapter.”

Carlos Cano: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be making the leap to the World Championship next year, and above all to be doing so with the CFMOTO Aspar Team. Ever since I was a child, my goal has been to reach the World Championship – and to do so with them, no less. It’s a great team. I hope to make good progress next year. It’s going to be a year of learning a lot, getting to know the team well and discovering many new circuits. Every race will be an opportunity to learn from the fastest riders.”
