The production, which will be released on January, 23, is based on the MotoGP world championship and features the Aspar Team as one of the main teams
Aspar Team is part of the first film production based on the MotoGP world championship, “IDOLS”. The film, starring Óscar Casas, Claudio Santamaria and Ana Mena, was shot at different circuits during the 2024 season and will hit theatres on 23 January, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Spain.
Aspar Team did not want to miss the opportunity to be part of the first film production to delve into the MotoGP world championship and actively collaborated in the filming. With the Moto2 team appearing as one of the main focal points of the story, the audience will be able to enjoy a new perspective on top-level competition.
The film crew has been present at several grand prix races throughout the season and has filmed at various championship circuits, such as the Circuit of the Americas (United States), Misano (Italy), Motegi (Japan) and the four Spanish tracks, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, the Circuit Ricardo Tormo and MotorLand Aragón. Throughout the ten weeks of filming, scenes were also shot in the team's own garage, as well as at the Aspar Circuit facilities.
This production opens a new window for both the Aspar Team and the team's sponsors, who will be able to make themselves known in areas outside of motorcycling. 'IDOLS' promises to be a film that will take the excitement of racing beyond the big screen.
Actor Óscar Casas plays Edu, a very aggressive young rider whom no team trusts. Eli, head of the Aspar Team in Moto2, offers him a chance on the condition that his father, Antonio Belardi (played by Claudio Santamaria), trains him. Edu has not seen his father for many years, a former rider who retired from the tracks after causing the death of another rider during a race. Although Edu hates his father for abandoning him, he knows that only with him can he achieve his dream. Edu will submit to Antonio's strict training regime, which includes putting love aside... Until he meets Luna (Ana Mena), a young artist who has just opened a tattoo studio right below his house.
