Batalon Park will test the strength of the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders as the first third of the season draws to a close

This weekend, the Moto2 World Championship enters the second half of a gruelling double-header for the riders in the intermediate class. The last round at Mugello once again yielded positive signs for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team, which ended the weekend with Dani Holgado on the podium. The Spaniard secured a hard-fought third place, a result that will undoubtedly provide added motivation to remain at the top of the standings this weekend in Hungary. Holgado finished ninth last year at Balaton Park, a circuit where the intermediate category has only raced once. On this occasion, experience of both the track and the category itself will help ensure that both Holgado and his teammate David Alonso can be competitive from Friday onwards. The Colombian also has fond memories of Balaton: he secured his first Moto2 victory there last year. The ability to quickly find reference points and adapt the set-up will be crucial in a weekend where every session could prove decisive. Alonso was competitive throughout the weekend in Italy, but the race did not end as hoped and a lack of confidence on the bike saw him finish outside the points. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider retains the same enthusiasm and determination as on the first day and will continue working with the team to turn the situation around and return to the front of the field.

In the Moto2 overall standings, Manu González remains the man to beat. The Spanish rider sits in first place and, after securing his third win of the year, his lead over the runner-up now stands at 34.5 points. Izan Guevara is his closest challenger in second place, but is separated from Celestino Vietti, in third, by just two points thanks to his podium finish in Italy. As for the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders, Holgado is fifth with 65 points, whilst Alonso is sixth with 58 points.

Dani Holgado: “We’d missed the taste of the podium and at Mugello we fought right to the end to get back on it. The attitude we’ve been showing – working non-stop to keep improving – meant we went into the race well prepared. Now in Hungary we have another chance to demonstrate this approach and keep fighting for good results.”

David Alonso: “This weekend I want to get back to feeling good on the bike after I wasn’t able to ride as freely as I’d like at Mugello. I’ve been able to rest over the last few days; the race in Italy was very physically demanding and I’ve focused on arriving in Hungary in the best possible shape. It’s a circuit that brings back very good memories for me because I achieved my first victory in Moto2 there, so it will be good motivation to keep working hard.”
