The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has returned to the front positions and finished the day in second place, whilst his team-mate Holgado came eighth and will also be in Q2

The entire CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team has secured a place in Q2 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. David Alonso set the second-fastest time of the day and was the rider who came closest to Manu González, who remains the benchmark in the intermediate category. Filip Salac rounded out the top three at Balaton Park, whilst Dani Holgado finished in eighth place, but less than half a second off the fastest time.

Balaton Park was the venue for Alonso’s first victory in the intermediate category in 2025, and also the circuit where the Colombian has regained his confidence. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider got the weekend off to a good start thanks to his second-place finish in this morning’s free practice. With a clear plan in mind, Alonso began the afternoon session aiming to continue his progress, but strong winds made riding difficult. After making a few minor adjustments with the team, he returned to the track with the same intensity to lap almost a second faster than this morning. Thanks to his 1:40.432, he once again took second place, again behind Moto2 leader Manu González. Dani Holgado, for his part, has also taken a big step forward at the Hungarian circuit. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider arrived in Hungary with a clear plan and a clear understanding of what aspects to improve in order to be as competitive as possible. Holgado worked hard all day, being one of the few riders to complete as many as 21 laps in the afternoon session. The Spaniard’s determination allowed him to improve his times and secure direct entry to tomorrow’s Q2 with a time of 1:40.709, which placed him in eighth position.

2nd David Alonso 1:40.432 (+0.203): “Today was a good day, which helped us fine-tune the bike for the rest of the weekend. In the afternoon, the conditions changed a lot: it was much windier and our approach didn’t work out as we’d hoped. We made a few changes thinking it would work better for us, and although I was riding faster, it wasn’t actually that much faster with the first tyre and I wasn’t where I wanted to be. When it’s very windy, it’s really hard to keep the front wheel on the ground, especially under acceleration and in fast corners. We were able to notice and fix it, so when I went back out on track the bike was completely different. Combined with everything I put in myself, I felt really good in the wind, which is never easy. We’ve taken on board everything that’s happened in recent races so we can be more alert and keep building. Moto2 is a category where everyone is keeping a close eye on everything. Even though it’s very close, you can refine certain details which, even if it doesn’t seem like it, give you an extra edge. We’ve been a step behind, but little by little we’re taking everything more into account.” 

8th Dani Holgado 1:40.709 (+0.480): “I’m happy with the work done on this first day in Hungary. Yesterday we identified what we needed to work on and this morning I focused on improving those areas from the very first lap. I felt much better compared to last year; I’ve gained confidence and taken a step forward in some areas where I struggled in 2025. I’ve got a long day ahead of me tomorrow, with a race simulation in the morning where I want to continue building on these improvements to be more competitive in the race. I want to thank the team for their work; I’ve had a fast bike to help us achieve our goals."
