The CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team will look to put on its best performance in front of the home crowd
David Alonso and Dani Holgado arrive at the Circuit de Barcelona–Catalunya with little time to rest after a difficult French Grand Prix for both riders. The Colombian struggled with physical discomfort throughout the weekend, but managed to overcome it on Sunday and put in a strong performance to finish in fifth place. His teammate, however, did not have the best of luck at Le Mans: he suffered a hard crash on the first lap and was able to rejoin after the red flag, but was later disqualified for not having a front fender. The Catalan Grand Prix will be a special event for the CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team, which aims to fight for the podium again after two difficult Grand Prix races.
This weekend, Barcelona will host the riders of the intermediate class for another double-header of races in the 2026 season. Both riders from the CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team arrive at the Catalan Grand Prix with physical issues: Alonso is dealing with shoulder discomfort that improved during the French Grand Prix, and Holgado is recovering from a hard crash in Sunday’s race. Both riders continue to work this week to arrive in top condition and keep making progress in a class that is becoming increasingly competitive. The CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team has fond memories of the Catalan circuit, where Dani Holgado secured his first Moto2 victory after starting from pole position last year. Alonso also had a strong race in 2025, finishing eighth after climbing up thirteen positions. The bar is set high for both the Spaniard and the Colombian, but both have a solid foundation to build on, allowing them to unleash their full potential from the very first session. As for the overall standings, Alonso is fifth with 48 points, while Holgado has dropped to seventh place with 38 points. In the team standings, the CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team remains in second place with 86 points.
David Alonso: “I’ve been working hard these past few days to rehabilitate my shoulder. I feel good, but I need to keep strengthening it so I can have a more normal weekend and ride more naturally in all the sessions. I want to get back to the setup we had before the French Grand Prix: we had to adjust it to make me feel more comfortable, but we were doing a good job in the last few races.”
Dani Holgado: “I’m really looking forward to getting to Barcelona. Last year I got my first Moto2 win after a great weekend, and it’s going to be special to race there. The race at Le Mans didn’t go as we’d hoped after a weekend where we were consistent. I’ve been able to rest a bit these past few days and recharge so I can give it my all again and fight to be up front once more.”
